Davey McEathron Architecture was founded in the summer of 2014 on a simple idea: the architect as artist, collaborator, and craftsperson. The studio was built to match - equal parts design space and fabrication shop - putting DMA at the rare intersection of design, testing, and realization. That hands-on approach shows: the firm has become known for vibrant interiors, inventive geometries, and an elegant use of raw materials that carries the hand of the maker and reflects the cultural mix of Central Texas.

By 2024, DMA had grown to a team of 13. That's when Davey and Rebecca made a deliberate choice: scale back the firm's output, and focus on bespoke projects and collaborations with like-minded people. Today, DMA is just the two of them - by design. To make room for that shift, they launched a second venture, Rock Paper Build, to explore construction and development beyond the bounds of traditional practice. Their first projects - two houses and two ADUs in East Austin's Chestnut neighborhood - set the tone for what was possible. DMA is honored to appear on the 2025 Forbes America's Best-in-State Residential Architects list, as well as Austin Home Magazine's "Best Architects" list for six consecutive years, alongside our peers and design heroes. We've also been fortunate to receive numerous design awards and to be featured in publications including Dwell, Texas Architect, Austin Home, Eastside, Grand Designs, Architects of the Southwest, and The Well-Designed Accessory Dwelling Unit, among others. But while industry recognition is meaningful, the most rewarding accolades are the recommendations and lasting friendships built with clients and collaborators along the way.
